1999

Created by Beryl 11 years ago
Ron was presented with this framed tribute from his Colleagues. November 1999 Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb That's the Trumpton Fire Brigade, you can keep your Teletubs But when we want entertainment, we don't switch the telly on We dial, 4483 and talk to Fireman Ron! He gives you clear and sound advice,he helps you when he can He couldnt fry a plate of chips, but he'll stop the blazing pan He'll calmly give instructions, 'til your confidence he's won And through it all he'll always keep that Hoddle sense of FUN He may not be the tallest man, but I know we all agree It's more than compensated for, by his personality He's honest, kind, sincere and all those words which mean to flatter And anyway, as Ron would say, "Size doesn't really matter!" He started in the RAF, which he joined in fifty-eight And stayed there 'til in seventy, he was finally shown the gate. And then he moved to Bedford, and then to Boscome Down And then in Nineteen Eighty Six, he came to Tadley Town. He came to Aldermaston, as Deputy CFO But in August Nineteen Ninety, he said "I've got to go" "Farnborough is calling, I've got the job at last" So he packed his fireman's uniform, and his little legs moved fast! He spent SOME time at Farnborough, but how long seems in doubt It seems it wasn't long enough, to get his extinguisher out! Within a month, he's back on Site, and he's been here ever since Upstaging Wing Commanders, and making others wince. His time on Site is over, he's moving to Northants Where Beryl's word is law, and it's she who wears the pants He's bought himself a shed, where he thinks he's gonna hide But Beryl's bought a padlock and she's locking him INSIDE!! It is time to take it easy Ron, put up your feet and rest As a fireman, as a colleague, as a friend you've been the best You will never forget us, though the memory may get faded Reap the benefits you've earned, from your support of Help the Aged.
